October 31, 2018 – a leading, global blockchain platform NEM (New Economic Model) announced today, the formal launch of its Taiwan hub. By establishing a presence in Taiwan, NEM is committed to unleashing and sharing local innovation to increase local access to blockchain adoption, ultimately helping to solve real-world problems.

NEM has already established hubs in 21 countries and assisted a significant number of enterprises in the use of blockchain technologies. NEM aims to support Taiwan in developing a more cohesive blockchain ecosystem.

Launched in 2015, NEM blockchain technology has been widely adopted around the world. With NEM’s blockchain technology, users of Philippines Loyal Coin blockchain reward platform can redeem rewards with ease, allowing loyalty points earned at convenience stores to be redeemed with an airline company’s points. Liquor companies in China have also adopted NEM blockchain technology for the purposes of brand authentication. In a significant milestone for the Company, NEM has also established the world’s first will writing platform which is encrypted, and any information stored will remain on the platform indefinitely until removed. These tried and tested, successful case studies demonstrate NEM’s possible applications in Taiwan.

NEM is a non-profit foundation that does not handle Initial Coin Offerings (ICO) or private funding. Its public chain is free and people can create their own accounts and names. NEM’s vision is to provide solutions that will help solve problems in the current economic system, whilst benefitting enterprises and individuals with blockchain applications.

NEM will look to gradually introduce blockchain technology to Taiwan’s financial and healthcare industries. The first application for adoption is NEM’s 2.0 Version Catapult, a public chain that is inter-operable and shareable among different clusters of distributed ledgers. It is expected to meet various application and development needs from the corporate world.

Flora Fang, Head of Taiwan commented: “After NEM has set up its Taiwan hub, we will assist more enterprises in adopting blockchain technology. We will channel our efforts towards blockchain education and talent development, by looking for opportunities to collaborate with universities and enterprises in setting up incubation centres.”

Steve Li, the Head of China at NEM, said: “NEM has already supported several Chinese liquor companies in adopting NEM blockchain technology with QR codes for brand authentications. We are pleased with the progress we have seen so far in implementing our technology across different regions. Our business is robust, and we have in place strategic cooperation agreements with various partners globally. This kind of collaboration will open up new opportunities to expedite innovation by removing silos around unique knowledge and resources.”
