Born in Australia, grew up in Scotland & moved to Asia in 1990. Started in FinTech in 1999, ran E*TRADE in Asia. Built two alternative Exchanges from 2007 – 2012, was a consultant to the first Robo Advisor in Asia in 2015 & started Bambu in 2016.

What does disruptive technology mean to you

Tech that people don’t expect…if people aren’t surprised by it, it isn’t disruptive.

How many messages are in your inbox right now…how do you handle social media

A lot. Right now it is 11.45 a.m. and I have 48 work emails so far today incoming that I have received. On average about 200 a day. Social Media. Linkedin more than anything else gets my time.

What are your top two favorite work memories..

First deal that I got with Bambu and when I was made MD of E*TRADE

In an ideal world, where money isn’t an issue, what do you see yourself doing..

Bambu. I am doing this because I enjoy it.

What are you really into outside of work..

Running. I like to run a lot. I ran round Singapore in one day. 125k in 18 hours non-stop. I run to work most days.

How do you learn..

By doing rather than listening. I need to work on my listening skills.

What is a lesson you learned from one of your parents that you still use..

Tolerance… it is important to understand everyone’s point of view.

When it is all over, how would you like to be remembered..

That i lived life to the fullest. We only get one go so have to give 100%.
